Stay the Course

Years ago I was having some difficulty with life and I was sitting looking out the front window when I heard the voice of the Lord speak to me. He said, “Son, many of my children get off right here. But just keep going and do what you know you’re supposed to do and everything will work out alright.”

So, I did. I kept getting up every morning and praying and reading my Bible. I kept going to church. I kept looking to the Lord. I kept walking in love and everything did turn out alright.

That was over 25 years ago. My life has been blessed and increased so much because I’ve just kept doing what I knew I was supposed to do. Love y’all, I hope that helped.

Improving Your Financial Acumen

Hey Friends,

How much time do you spend on your finances? Worrying doesn’t count. How much time do you spend reading about money management? developing your portfolio? planning for the future?

I think one of the reasons so many people are in financial trouble, especially Christians, is because they spend so very little time learning, thinking, planning, preparing for financial success.
Well Joe, doesn’t the Bible say:
Mat 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.

Yeah, it does, but it doesn’t say ignore your finances.

Mat 10:16
I am sending you out like sheep among wolves.
Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

We’re supposed to be wise about our finances.

Pro 27:23
Be sure you know the condition of your flocks,
give careful attention to your herds;
Pro 27:24
for riches do not endure forever,
and a crown is not secure for all generations.
Pro 27:25
When the hay is removed and new growth appears
and the grass from the hills is gathered in,
Pro 27:26
the lambs will provide you with clothing,
and the goats with the price of a field.
Pro 27:27
You will have plenty of goats’ milk to feed you and your family
and to nourish your servant girls.

I love these verses. They tell us clearly to do our finances; balance our check book, make sure the bills are paid. Ignoring your finances won’t make your financial problems go away.

Proverbs 10:4
Lazy hands make a man poor,
but diligent hands bring wealth.

Proverbs 12:24
Diligent hands will rule,
but laziness ends in slave labor.

Proverbs 12:27
The lazy man does not roast his game,
but the diligent man prizes his possessions.

Proverbs 13:4
The sluggard craves and gets nothing,
but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.

Proverbs 21:5
The plans of the diligent lead to profit
as surely as haste leads to poverty.

So here’s what I recommend: work on your finances for 15 minutes a day.
This might include:
  1. Paying bills
  2. Balancing the checkbook
  3. Investigating a stock to purchase
  4. Studying to learn what a stock is
  5. Learn what a portfolio is and what yours should contain
  6. Investigate other ways to make money besides your current job
  7. Plan for retirement
  8. Read a book about personal finances
  9. Praying for your finances, asking God for knowledge, wisdom and blessing
  10. Ask someone else how they handle their finances
So friends, there is so much to do, so much to learn, but if we just sit back and wonder when this financial situation is going to turn around, we may be waiting a very long time.

Blessings on you
Joe

Waking Up To A Sense Of Destiny

Several years ago I heard a preacher say that people who are ‘great’ live with a sense of destiny. When I heard that I jumped on the inside. I got excited. I had that sense on the inside of me. I can still feel it. I have a future assignment that God is pulling me toward.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

For we are God’s workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:10

Because of these verses, I believe that everyone has a destiny. Everyone has an assignment that God is drawing them toward and preparing them for. The key is to wake up to it.

So, here is your wake up call. My Friend, you were not an accident. God created you, no matter your origin, with a plan to use you, to bless you, and to make you a blessing to others. You are the answer to one of earth’s problems. You are the answer to someone’s life problems. So wake up to it. Realize that you are important. Begin to submit yourself to God’s plan for your life. It’s what you were created for. It’s what you are best suited to do. It’s the place where you will thrive and flourish. Let God love through you.

I hope this encourages you.

Romanian Service

Hey Friends,

I was given the privilege of speaking at the Oasis of Light church down in San Antonio, TX. What a beautiful group of people. I taught their youth on Friday night on “Becoming Marriable” that was very interesting. My wife, Nancy, said everyone needs to hear that message. Maybe I’ll put that up some time. It includes our testimony of how God brought us together.
On Sunday night, their church had their first Romanian service. I got to be the main speaker for that as well. I was amazed by the amount of anointing that flowed through in that setting. Toward the end of the message the Lord gave me a picture of a man opening a gift that was full of all kinds of blessings and Jesus just continued to plead with him to finish opening the gift.
It’s interesting listening to messages with a translator, but if you can get through it, I think you’ll be blessed. I’m teaching on the essence of Grace and Peace.

Teaching Through An Interpreter

Hey Friends,

I wanted to give you a chance to hear something you normally wouldn’t hear unless you were on the mission field.
Recently I had the privilege of speaking at Pastor Cary Diaz’ church in Addison, IL. We had an awesome time. I got to share my testimony and as I did an amazing peace came over the congregation. We could really sense God’s presence.
Anyway, if you like to listen, hear it is: (Give it a few seconds to load.)

Fresh Word

Last night I was ministering to a group about hearing God’s voice and He had me demonstrate for them.

Here’s the word He spoke during that demonstration.
Son, I delight in seeing you display my glory. It makes me laugh. It makes me dance.
Son, the power I have to reveal through you is greater than you’ve imagined. My strength that is available through you has gone mostly untapped. Step into Me, Son. Lean into Me. Lean into My Spirit and expect Me to meet you there. I will and you will not be disappointed.

Be blessed my friends
Have a great day

Addicted to Popcorn? You may need to go to war!

When I was little I loved it when my mom would cook up a batch of popcorn with salt and melted butter, we’d sit and talk and watch TV and enjoy each other’s company. When I was a little older I tasted my Aunt Peggy’s caramel corn and was amazed, it was better than Cracker Jack. But it wasn’t till I was married that somehow we stumbled upon using parmesan cheese along with the salt and melted butter that really created the ultimate treat.

If you think this article is about popcorn it’s really not. You see if you take the word popcorn and remove the 2nd, 3rd and 4th letters (opc) you reveal a real problem for men. If I type that word here, many keyword blockers will keep you from seeing this. So, I’m just going to assume you know what I’m talking about.

God made man to be a visually stimulated and driven being for a reason. He wanted him to be a go-getter; a doer; one who would see something he wanted and go after it with all his heart. I believe this is why Paul says in Philippians 2:13 “for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.” He’s trying to get hold of your desires, to harness them so the mighty power He put in you can be used for His purposes.

God made women beautiful and visually stimulating for many reasons, one of them is: the propagation of the human race is mighty high on His agenda; that’s why it was the very first commandment ever given to mankind in scripture: Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it…”

But there are many men in this world who have already taken part in that process yet the drive behind their eyes has not abated. Proverbs 27:20 “Death and Destruction are never satisfied, and neither are the eyes of man.”

Ecclesiastes 1:8 “All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing.” Well, Solomon, that is true, but there’s got to be more hope for the regenerate, for those of us who have been born again. Romans 8:5 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. Galatians 5:16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.

A friend of mine, fresh out of prison, was really battling with the desires of his flesh. He came to me for advice and prayer. I told him, “If your body won’t line up with the word don’t feed it.” He took my words to heart and went on a fast, not that long of one, but he returned with an amazing report. “What you told me really worked. When I fasted that overwhelming desire left.” Things had come under control.

Once when I was struggling in this area, I went to the Lord for forgiveness and counsel. His reply was interesting, “Go to war, son!” It reminded of me of David in 2Samuel 11:1 In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army… But David remained in Jerusalem. 2 One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful…

David was in a posture of leisure, he was not fulfilling his responsibilities, he was pushing them off on others, letting them carry the burden so he could be at ease. His divine purpose had been pushed on someone else’s shoulders.

God said to me, “Go to war, son!” When we are busy with our life’s purpose; when our shoulders are harnessed with the yoke of God; when we are at war sin will have a hard time even presenting itself as an option. Uriah couldn’t be moved off of this posture of war. 2Samuel 11:8 Then David said to Uriah, “Go down to your house and wash your feet.” So Uriah left the palace, and a gift from the king was sent after him. 9 But Uriah slept at the entrance to the palace with all his master’s servants and did not go down to his house. 10 When David was told, “Uriah did not go home,” he asked him, “Haven’t you just come from a distance? Why didn’t you go home?” 11 Uriah said to David, “The ark and Israel and Judah are staying in tents, and my master Joab and my lord’s men are camped in the open fields. How could I go to my house to eat and drink and lie with my wife? As surely as you live, I will not do such a thing!”

The destruction David reaped in his life from this was terrible.

So, my friend, I hope these two bits of advice bring power to your Spirit to resist the wicked temptations that seem to abound in our culture. The next time you are tempted to enjoy some popcorn, remember the Devil is not presenting this temptation to you because he likes you, he’s doing it because he wants to kill you. It’s time to either fast or go to war.

Well I Asked For It

Hey Friends,

I hope you are all doing well. I am.
I made an interesting decision before the end of the year. It wasn’t really a New Year’s resolution like we’re used to; but I believe it was a true resolution, true resolve.
It says in Proverbs 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
I heard a preacher talking about this and he said the Hebrew word for wellspring there had something to do with the boundaries of your life.
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking and meditating on that.
People are limited by what they believe in their hearts. Their belief systems flow from their heart and those same belief systems free or bind them; empower them or confound them.
So, I was sitting at this restaurant waiting for an old friend to show up for dinner. I was in a corner booth, lights were low, I had asked the waitress for a scrap piece of paper, she gave me some tore up half-menu. It was one of those uncomfortable settings where the wait staff keeps coming back wondering why your dinner partner is late. I had real peace on me though; a contemplative moment. I was thinking about the boundaries of my heart, wondering what they were, but seeing the boundaries or limitations in my life. You know, you can’t see the wind, but you can see it’s effect. Just so, you can’t see the boundaries of your heart, but you can see their effects.
Well in looking around at the limitations of my life I didn’t like what I saw. I saw a lot of hopes and expectations dashed or delayed. I saw failure to follow through and run allllllll tttthhheee waaaayyyy to the finish line. Satisfying myself with the thought of I know I could have if I really wanted to. But this mediocrity is getting to me. I’m getting real tired of it. I’m ready to see my heart’s desires fulfilled not just dreamed or fantasized.
But I really don’t feel like its selfish this time. This time the results of my ineffectiveness are getting to me. God has called me to more. More means more people touched, more people blessed, more people changed.
I want to answer His call. I don’t want the limitations of my heart to stand in the way of His dreams.
So, sitting in that corner booth waiting for my friend I made a decision. My top priority in 2010 is to move the boundaries of my heart. Move these limitations out of the way. This heart must be changed.
But, my friend, heart change is not always easy. Heart change is a deep process, in order for it to happen you have to invite the Lord to go deep in you and correct you and change you.
This may affect you emotionally, because when God starts working you can feel it.
I love the Lord and I know He’s at work in me. I trust Him and I know that He is giving me the desires of my heart.
I’m looking forward to the end result. God is faithful.
Love you all
I hope this helped.
